2 – Deflector cooling system for launch and long duration testing

Name of the system:

Deflector cooling system for launch and long-duration testing

Lead entity within the SAMMBA consortium:

MT Aerospace (reach out to us here)

Attachment point within the process chain of the Spaceport operator:

The system responsible for cooling the deflectors for launch and long-duration testing

Major benefit within the process chain:

The deflector cooling system increases reliability both for engine testing as well as for launch activities.

Furthermore, the system also leads to increases in availability as the system decreases the maintenance time and effort as tiles can easily be exchanged without exchanging all tiles of the deflector cooling system.

Anticipated R&D vector for the near/mid/long-term:

The anticipated near-term development efforts would aim at enabling operational ability on are large scale. In the mid term, the system could be scaled up, adding value also to bigger launch vehicles.

Modularity granted with the following standards:

The deflector cooling system for launch and long-duration testing doesn’t require special modifications and can be used at any spaceport.

Interoperability granted with the following standards:

The system is interoperable if a water source is available at the launch/test site for active cooling

Systems interfaced:

Launch base, mechanical structures
