14 – Launch pad monitoring and control
Name of the system:
Launch Pad M&C
Lead entity within the SAMMBA consortium:
GTD (reach out to us here)
Attachment point within the process chain of the Spaceport operator:
Part of the Mission Control Systsem (launch complex). Controls and monitor the opertations at the launch pad under the responsiblity of the launch servicde provider
Major benefit within the process chain:
The architecture of the monitoring and control system is generic, thus contributing to the increased versatility of spaceports deploying SAMMBA systems. Applications that run in the virtual cluster in the SAMMBA system may be adapted to each spaceport:
- cost reduction on HW SW procurement
- cost reduction on maintenance
- increase of availability
Remote operation: Delocalisation of operators and operations from the site itself allows the monitoring and support of operations off-site:
- cost reduction on work force at the Spaceport facilities and travels on-site for validation and deployment os systems/updates
Anticipated R&D vector for the near/mid/long-term:
Wireless secure communications through PLC to avoid cabling
Modularity granted with the following standards:
VM SW, Container technology, standard HW, Process Management tools, Blockchain Database
Interoperability granted with the following standards:
IoT protocols, RaspberryPI-based PLC, MQTT broker, VPN secure communications
Systems interfaced:
mechanical systems (AGV, erector), Fluid systems (IoT sensors)
